Creative director: Craig Johnson
The second issue of the music magazine sees its remit extended to include cover star Tony Kaye, the legendary adman/film director, who is interviewed at length inside.
Published from the Camden home of bar/club and music label Spiritual Records, and put together by the inhouse team plus designer Craig Johnson, Spirit(ed) is a bold attempt to channel the 15 year-old identity of the venue into print.
Interviews with regular performers and a report from last year’s Spiritual Festival sit alongside local celebs—fashion photographer and dandy Jonathan Root—and a look at Jonathan Barnbrook’s sleeve design for David Bowie’s ‘The Next Day’ album. It’s a mixed bag, but it’s held together well by Johnson’s design, and the team’s enthusiasm shines through.
