Large in format and bold in colour, Ultra Magazine describes itself as ‘the world’s first publication dedicated exclusively to exploring immersive worlds and experiences through a cultural lens’. Its thematic issues philosophically reflect on our increasingly digitised age, engaging with virtual reality, augmented reality and spatial computing as tools for reimagining perception and reality.
This fourth issue, themed ‘Nature’, examines how nature is interpreted within virtual environments and immersive technologies, and how software can transform what is often understood as fixed and real into something malleable and at times utopian. Inside, discover a conversation with Celine Daemen, winner of 2023 Venice Immersive Grand Prize, a feature on design innovation firm ecoLogicStudio and their blue-green masterplans, alongside questions that probe the limits of virtual reality and whether nature exists outside of us—or within.
