Each issue of Magazine B offers an extensive profile of a single brand, taking a deep dive into its origins, aesthetic, and culture. We visit the offices, are introduced to the key players in the business, and consider the marketing and audience for each product/brand.
Chosen brands are not limited by any particular industry; issues have included flagship fashion names like Chanel and indie publishing darlings Monocle. The choices of subject also reflect our changing world—recently the Magazine B team have been keen to explore digital brands like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
The latest issue, #95, focuses on Swedish music streaming platform Spotify and its innovative approach to leveraging machine learning technology. We also have eight previous issues available, see the drop down menu.
Also look out for Magazine F, the sibling magazine about Food.
On the Journal:
‘Q: How do you choose what brands you’re going to showcase for the entirety of an issue?
A: Magazine B has a four pillar policy when selecting brands, it must meet our criteria of beauty, price, practicality and philosophy. Our staff has in-depth discussions throughout the decision making process. We research, we communicate with a range of people who are knowledgeable about the candidate brand, there’s numerous stages.’
