‘Contemporary ceramics’
Temperatures is a magazine profiling contemporary artists whose medium of choice is clay. Each edition is dedicated to an individual artist, delving into their practice and how it might challenge or expand the conversation around ceramics as an art form—with the printed format offering an additional platform for the work to be interpreted.
The second volume takes the reader on a colourful journey through the creative output of Korean artist and designer Kyong Kim, showcasing an ongoing body of work titled ‘Assembly’—a series of slip-cast sculptures reminiscent of utilitarian pipe forms that the artist began working on in 2017. Photographs of the artist’s work are complemented by a myriad of imaginative narrative and linguistic contributions from writers, artists, and fellow ceramicists, responding to a series of Letterform prompts relating to the series.
