Launched as an online networking platform for lesbian, bisexual, queer, non-binary and trans people in 2009, the debut print edition of the ‘politically progressive feminist media source’ Autostraddle was published in 2025. Covering everything from long-form interviews and features to personals pages, crosswords, quizzes and book reviews, it’s an exciting DIY directory for New York’s queer community and beyond.
This sophomore edition for Spring/Summer 2026 leads with an in-depth profile of Chinese-American chef and reality TV contestant Melissa King by food and culture writer Jaya Saxena, delving into the influence of her third-culture upbringing and queer identity on her chosen career path. Divided into a plethora of categories—including ‘How to Live’, ‘Love & Sex’, ‘Lit’, ‘Funnies’, and more—inside, you’ll also find graphically mapped out queer city guides to Copenhagen and Orlando; introductions to NYC’s queer and trans chefs, participants of Brooklyn’s infamous lesbian pie eating contest, and upcoming queer zine Chapstick; a conversation with Roxy Bourdillon—editor-in-chief of ‘legacy’ queer magazine Diva; as well as, features spanning synthetic hormones and the relationship between sexuality and service jobs.
Woven throughout the issue you’ll also find photo series by Roman Manfredi, Matti Provost, and Cherry Au, exploring themes of identity, history, and politics of space. Plus, dating dos and don’ts, sex advice for novices and pros alike, movies that live in Marina Mayoral’s mind ‘rent free’, and a quiz determining which lesbian drink—from oat milk to tequila and lime—best represents you.
