Founded by two ‘lovers of culture and artistic expression’—Brazillian Igor Morozoni and Irish Graham Dow—Estar Magazine is a new print title committed ‘to preserving and immortalising real stories from real people’. Rooted in subcultures like skateboarding and grafitti, the magazine offers a tangible counterpoint to an age dominated by the digital and the superficial, creating space for voices that often go unheard.

In this inaugural issue, Estar Magazine turns its attention to four creatives exploring how craft becomes a means of presence: Pixação artists Bia Furia and Radar Rais, painter Celo Moreira, and photographer Osman Júnior. Elsewhere, Estar speaks with Brian Downey of Falcon Bowse about his eccentric reworkings of the classic skater hat, as well as painter Eileen Sealy on how objects in her work retain ‘traces of human presence’. Firmly embedded in the underground scene, the magazine weaves together glossy skate photography, acid-inspired typography, and glimpses of subcultures from cities across the world.
