Quarterly fashion, beauty and culture glossy 72 is the brainchild of former British Vogue editor Edward Enninful, and made its debut last autumn. Unlike the recent trend towards magazines aligning their content to appeal to a younger audience, 72 is undeniably grown up.
This fourth edition for Summer 2026 features two a painterly-style portraits of Rihanna on the front and back cover, photographed by Szilveszter Makó.
The issue is hinged around performance and ability, with stories geared towards current trends and the arrival of summer. Harriet Quick profiles four female auctioneers handling a selection of the most prestigious sales across the globe—spanning classic, Impressionist and modern art—on their personal taste and market insights; Tiara Williams meets American sprinter Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, as she reflects upon the 2025 World Athletics Championships that saw her crowned the fastest woman in the world; and photographer Del LaGrace Volcano delves into their most memorable images from a career documenting queer culture.
Enninful’s contacts book brings such enviable access, but the magazine the stories land in remains rather flat and creatively unaligned with the editorial ambition.
