First published in 2014, Accattone is an irregular and independent magazine founded by a team of architects and graphic designers, which investigates ‘minor practices in art and architecture’. The publication harnesses the format of print media as a space to ‘exhibit’ these ideas, emphasising the cohesion between page design and its thematic content.

Issue nine seeks to examine the relationship between affirmation and denial, alongside ‘material-conceptual operations with dirt’. Inspired by artist and writer Emma Cocker’s collection of poetic prose ‘The Yes of the No’ and Hélène Frichot’s musings in her pamphlet ‘Dirty Theory: Troubling Architecture’ (2019), this edition opens with excerpts from both authors.

Elsewhere, architects Jeremy Till and Sarah Wigglesworth reflect on the pioneering design of their home and studio The Straw Bale House, Matthew Stadler takes a trip to Dial House—the punk playhouse once home to Crass art collective—and the editorial team visit the studio of French artist Willie Morlon.
