‘A global photography journey’

A beautifully produced, large-format photography biannual exploring the relationship between humans and the natural world. Presented as a series of back-to-back folios, each issue curates images from, as the title suggests, an archipelagic mix of emerging and established photographers in whose work ‘similarities are sometimes hidden and subtle’.

This third issue—themed ‘Fun’—counteracts the heaviness of late, with a focus on the ‘joy, tension, and curiosity’ that ‘physically shapes visual storytelling’. Inside, Dalia Al-Dujaili pens a persuasive essay on the necessity of childlike wonder and imaginative play, followed by a conversation with Emma Sarpaniemi about the empowerment of being both the creator and subject of her own work. Elsewhere, photographer Daesung Lee shares his ongoing project ‘Nirvana’, exploring the struggles of women in traditional Korean society, whilst highlighting their wit and positivity in the face of hardship.

Plus, photography from Mathieu Richer Mamousse, Renate Ariadne, Arielle Bobb-Willis, and more.
