‘An expansive magazine on design’
From the team behind the organisation Design By Women (a group founded by designers including Jessica Walsh, Veronica Fuerte and Sarah Boris), Designfully is a bright, colourful dedication to empowering and platforming underrepresented creatives in the design industry while addressing the gender disparity within it.
Issue one is themed ‘Celebration’, recognising the achievements of Design By Women, and includes an international selection of over fifty designers and their work through interviews and spotlights on their designs.
Inside, Shivani Parasni breaks down her unconventional route towards becoming an art director, stemming from her background in biotechnology. Nadina Ali—known for her powerful social justice messages told through bold typography—reflects on her collaborations with Tate, Loughborough University, and the Black Outdoor Art Project. Inclusivity is highlighted elsewhere in a conversation with Kimya Gandhi, who specialises in Devanagari typefaces, exploring how her travels across India inspire her font creation.
This is an important, uplifting publication showcasing a wide variety of design styles, followed by unique storytelling from the women behind them, who are often overlooked in mainstream design media.
