This Glasgow-born biannual visits a different city each issue, exploring local culture through food, history, and community, and looking beyond the cliché tourist routes. The team work with local writers to provide insight each issue.

This time it’s the turn of Athens, one of the world's oldest cities seeped in mythology while boasting a modern, rebellious, creative scene. As always, the issue opens with a whimsical illustrated map, combining iconic landmarks with details of local living. Kenzie Yoshimura’s introduction describes Athens as containing ‘a special brand of energy...bred in places where myth and modernity coexist.’

The issue showcases Athens’ charm through features on one-hundred-year old Tavernas, the embedded culture of ‘Filoxenia’—meaning kindness to strangers—and the specific scent of bitter oranges that floats around the city. There’s also modern Greek cuisine, a fanatical supporter of football team Panathinaikos’ women’s team, and plenty of traditional Greek food: souvlaki, natural yoghurt, and Greek pies.
