‘Slow the folk down!’ is the rallying cry of Canada’s Folklife, a biannual publication ‘inspired by folks who live close to the earth, move with intention, and craft life as an art form.’

This thirteenth issue, ‘The Builder Volume’, celebrates the many ways people shape their own personal worlds—whether by creating intimate havens, businesses or more broadly, their own trajectory in life. Inside, you’ll find stories of vision, perseverance and reinvention, from the making of a beloved roadside attraction and creating the perfect ‘she-shed’ (move over man cave), to five profiles of inspiring people who have transformed their lives, one step at a time.
