‘Dedicated to the small, the slow, and the tender’
Elena Fazzino’s new annual photography magazine Garden Party is posited as ‘an invitation to notice more’ and captures the ephemeral joy of daily life’s quiet in-between moments. Alongside warm documentary photography, you’ll also find personal observations and interviews with photographers spanning their creative process and inspiration.
This third issue is devoted to ‘Rituals’, rejecting the performative version of ritual shared in curated posts and videos online and embracing the nuanced rituals of daily life that go ‘un–spoken’ and ‘un–documented’, done purely for oneself or in an altruistic act for others. Inside, photographer Kira Crugnale presents her series ‘Tavolo, Tavola’, exploring the multifaceted role of the table as both an object and a catalyst for connection, alongside a discussion of the influence of her Italian Canadian heritage and childhood ‘Sunday dinners’; discover Emily Krouse’s series ‘Portrait of a Baker’, opening with a narrative description of baker Harry’s 6am start before delving into conversation with ‘Beaten by a Whisker’ bakery founder Laura Almond; and writer Chloe Citron finds solace in the repeated motions of domestic life and handcrafts.
Plus, poetry from Ella B. Winters, Joy Naysa–Lychee and Nikki Everett and more photography from Sophia Abdul Sata, Jane Walton, Verdiana Bernocchi, Rae Oswald and Khaoula Alaoui.
