Issueissue is a fashion magazine that describes itself as ‘committed to crafting stories with critical perspectives that extend beyond the wardrobe’. Issue four is themed ‘Play’—a fascinating and current compilation of how performance, role-play and character blur into real life. Spanning across traditional theatre, online ‘it-girls’, film and performance, this issue unapologetically explores the desire to be a spectacle.
Scattered between the fashion editorials are long-form conversations with New Theatre duo Calla Henkel and Max Pitegoff, experimenting with the ‘European way’ in Hollywood, as well as the multi-faceted Tish Weinstock, who commits every day to being a performance. A tribute to conceptual artist John Baldessari is illustrated with a selection of his works on consumerist symbols and cinematic visuals.
