‘Truth & Movies’
Little White Lies has been at the vanguard of today’s generation of indie magazines since its 2005 launch, and is still as overflowing with love for movies as ever.
This October/November 2026 issue is dedicated to Martin McDonagh’s latest genre-defying feature, ‘Wild Horse Nine’. On the cover, Bordeaux-based illustrator Zoé Maghamès Peters translates the dark comedy-turned-tragedy into a colourful collage of 70s inspired linework. As usual, David Jenkins leads the issue, this time with an in-depth analysis of ‘Wild Horse Nine’ lead characters, CIA agents Chris and Lee—played by John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell—exploring their intergenerational, brotherly bond, alongside the film’s political critique of US Foreign policy during the Cold War. Elsewhere, Malkovich discusses the literary inspirations behind his role and his relationship with comedy; Sam Rockwell reflects on his emotional state while shooting, the Moai heads of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and bonding with Malkovich over their shared stage backgrounds; and McDonagh sits down with Hannah Strong to discuss the filmmaking process.
Plus, all the usual reviews, interviews and listicles, including a conversation with absurdist drama director Amanda Kramer on her latest film, ‘By Design’.
On the Journal: To mark the magazine’s 100th issue, we asked editor David Jenkins to select his most memorable front cover designs to date.
