‘A space for cheeky stories’

Toronto-born Lore brings plenty of fun and flair to its loose mix of culture, gossip and general vibes, presented in slim, glossy format. Their only rule? ‘No trauma dumping. There’s more than enough sadboy creatives out there, and we need more bursts of pure fun.’

The third issue of Lore is ‘The Cult Issue’ and is their biggest one yet. ‘Are you a leader or follower?’ the magazine asks on its front cover (starring Ms. Myles, shot by Vonny Lorde), with an expansive, tongue-in-cheek exploration of what makes a cult. Shen Yun is name-dropped for its omnipotent and conspiratorial presence; elsewhere, a spiralling article on the brands we flock to that mirror the likes of The Manson Family and the Sullivanians —think Erewhon smoothies and Co-Star.

Plus, a step-by-step guide on ‘taking out your local cult’, including the pursuit to ‘out-aura the cult leader’s aura’ and sacrificing your weird uncle. Bonkers and fascinating, this edition is fitting for spooky season.
