Now sixty editions in, Matte has been published by photographer Matthew Leifheit since 2010. This issue, co-edited with Vince Aletti, is dedicated to late American photographer David Armstrong, a monograph-like collection of 107 photographs sourced from his archives in Brooklyn and the first posthumous publication of Armstrong's work since his death in 2014.
With the magazine's masthead relegated to an embossed all-white back cover, Armstrong's photography takes centre stage—alongside the photographs, you'll also find interviews with editor Lisa Love, stylist Marie-Amélie Sauvé and photographer Ethan James Green, on his legacy.
