‘The Secondhand Fashion Magazine’
‘Reveling in the decay of fashion as we knew’, the excellently named Mildew is a relatively new (or original) title celebrating secondhand fashion and creative reuse, created by the deputy editor of magCulture favourites Broccoli and Mushroom People, Ellen Freeman.
After three issues spent exploring hand-me-downs, secondhand culture, and the many places—big and small—where the histories of our clothes live, this fourth issue of Mildew celebrates thrifting as a more joyful, personal alternative to the overconsumption and micro-trend-driven churn of fast fashion. Inside, you’ll find an ode to the distinctive smells of thrift stores, an interview with vintage-inspired puzzle makers Le Puzz, a moving personal essay by Sarah Barness about wearing her 93-year-old grandmother’s wig after her breast cancer diagnosis, plus much more.
On the Journal
