'Critical and creative engagements with dance'
Launched in 2022 as a finite trilogy, this is the final issue of Motor Dance Journal. Bookish in size, this neatly put together journal explores dance both critically and creatively, meaning (really) that there's something in here for everyone—whether your hips lie or not.
This final, green, edition is themed ‘Groupwork;’ issue one considered the solo, issue two the duet, and now we have the collective.
Inside, you'll find contributions from an array of international dancers, choreographers and writers, whose biographies take up five pages. They include (La)Horde, McKenzie Wark, Chris Kraus,Simone Fort, RoseLee Goldberg and Trajal Harrell.
On the Journal
At Work With ith Hannah and Isabelle: ‘There exist plenty of magazines for film enthusiasts, or those with an interest in literature, design and art but there is little dedicated entirely to dance. There are of course some exceptions to this, but, by and large, it felt to us that dance had been sidelined from printed matter.’
