The wonderfully-named, small-format ‘Art & Football’ magazine—a crossover with a longer history than may at first seem the case.
On the cover of this latest issue is a typically cheeky image of Big Sam (Sam Allarcyde) tucking into some alarmingly orange chips—lifted from Adam Wyn’s poster on a wall in Dudley. Inside: Cevdet Erek’s geometric reductions of football stadiums, such as Anfield, which reflect wider political and social structures; Eugenio Merino’s hyperreal heads of fascist dictators, made to be kicked around by locals; and the work of influential photographer Roger Mayne, whose imagery of everyday British culture is peppered with football paraphernalia; plus, plenty more for the art x football fan.
