This landmark 40th boxset issue for Spring/Summer 2026 sees the team at the ‘magazine for architectural entertainment’ celebrate the architectural and design achievements of the first quarter of the century, alongside exploring the symbiotic evolution of digital technology and design.
Themed ‘Independence’, the issue arrives packaged in a playful confetti print box, and comes complete with a trifold poster featuring a photograph of 66 influential NYC architects and an eight-page concertina pamphlet dedicated to Cooper Hewitt curator Alexandra Cunningham Cameron’s picks of ‘40 defining objects of the century’—from the postmodern (Philippe Starck’s Louis Ghost chair for Kartell), to the dystopian (Tesla’s Self-Driving Cybertruck). Solange Knowles leads the issue, photographed by Kobe Wagstaff at Saint Heron’s Manhattan studio for the cover; inside, she sits down with Theaster Gates to reflect on how the multi-disciplinary hub has transformed since she founded it back in 2013. Elsewhere, discover interviews with Pakistani architect Yasmeen Lari; sculpture artist Dozie Kanu; YY co-founders Tawanda Chiweshe and Francisco Gaspar; architect Mariam Issoufou and culinary entrepreneur Jon Gray—the duo behind Manhattan’s new Afro-Asiatic zero waste restaurant Gourmand; and, hotelier of Studio 54 notoriety Ian Schrager; as well as features spanning ‘The Shift from Objects to Systems’, to ‘The Female Body in the 21st Century’.
Plus, seven accompanying booklets including a 20-page roundup of 40 pioneering 21st century homes and a conversation with Michèle Lamy, shot by Danielle Levitt in the Brutalist Parisian space she shares with long-term partner Rick Owens.
