Founded by Harriet Monroe—editor, poet and patron of the arts—Poetry Magazine prides itself on publishing the best of contemporary poetry since 1912. It boasts the likes of T.S. Eliot, Sylvia Plath, Frank O’Hara, Langston Hughes, Marianne Moore and Rabindranath Tagore amongst the names it has championed over the past century.

This October 2026 issue debuts Poetry’s updated new look and Pegasus logo—waving goodbye to its evolving guest-designed titular font that dominated the page—and instead bringing extracts from the poems themselves to the fore; ‘Give me more time to immortalise’, for example, reads the Sisyphean cover of this edition. Elsewhere, Poetry devotees may also notice a switch up in font styles throughout this exciting new edition.

Inside, the magazine sustains its commitment to ‘presenting the cornucopia of contemporary poetry’, featuring poetry by a host of writers including Martha Collins, A.R. Zarif, Meghan O’Rourke, Brianna Steidle, Clare Jones, Campbell McGrath, Ricardo Alberto Maldonado, KB Brookins, and more.

Plus, readers can also expect a special folio devoted to poets of Midwest North America, a region with an ‘often overlooked history of counter–cultural, revolutionary spaces’. Featuring poets W.J. Lofton, Mitchell L.H. Douglas, Aaron Coleman, MARS Marshall, Michael Kleber–Diggs, Bao Phi, and more.
