Photography magazine Source grew out of Photoworks North, an organisation established in 1992 to promote excellence in photography in Northern Ireland, funded in part by a raffle of donated prints from photographers including Martin Parr, Willie Doherty and Lee Friedlander.
In addition to publishing photography, features on individual photographers and artists and criticism, the journal gives plenty of space over to reviews of shows and new photo-books from Ireland and the UK.
This Summer 2026 issue features its usual trio of portfolios—showcasing work from Dragana Jurišić, Lucie Armstrong and Anthony Haughey—plus an additional glossy insert spotlighting a curated selection of work from photography graduates up and down the country. Elsewhere, Ian Walker uses Martin Parr’s iconic photo book ‘The Last Resort’ as a framework to reflect on how text and images impact each other on the page; Katie Jarvis walks readers through her career in family photography, sharing a typical day in her life working with the charity JUMP; and Kimberly Schreiber reviews a recently compiled photo book of Sophy Rickett’s radical series ‘Pissing Women,’ published by Cheerio.
