Quarterly
Publisher, editor & designer: Janine Vangool

‘For the creative and curious’

Published quarterly, Uppercase is a joyful attempt to boost its readers’ creativity. As Janine Vangool, the woman behind the mag explains, the publication is ‘a playful exploration of creativity, an affinity for vintage ephemera, and a love of typography.’

Issue 71 is themed ‘Find Your Path to Inspiration’, opening with a flow chart from editor Janine Vangool exploring her creative process to set the tone of this edition. Inside, artist and illustrator Meena Lee Patel delves into how attending graduate school helped her career progress on an upwards trajectory, Melanie Roller presents a series of maps and travel ephemera from the collection of graphic designer Mark E.Sackett ruminating on cartography and ‘the compulsion to categorise’, and Correy Baldwin explores the metaphor of the creative journey as a road through artwork depicting paths, motorways, and bridges from artists including Edward Hopper, Gustave Courbet, and Claude Monet.
