Created by a couple of self-identified ‘makers’, the Glasgow-born publication We Are Makers exists to connect the reader and the maker, providing an opportunity for in-depth stories to be shared, craft to be (deservedly) shown off and creative communities cultivated.
This issue centres on craftsmanship as one of the most human attributes to remain in an ever-shifting world. Inside, meet Euan Findlay, one of the few remaining coopers in the UK, offering insight into this centuries-old practice; Pasquale and Fabio Ottaviano, creating stunningly intricate engravings in their studio outside of Naples; Scott Horn who’s beautifully patterned leather works emerged after inheriting the tools for his trade; and Glasgow-based bookbinder Gillilan Stewart, on turning her craft into a career.
