We Are Makers #18
200 x 270 mm, 160 pages
Glasgow, UK
Quarterly
First published 2020
Created by: Kate and Jack Lennie
Created by a couple of self-identified ‘makers’, the Glasgow-born publication We Are Makers exists to connect the reader and the maker, providing an opportunity for in-depth stories to be shared, craft to be (deservedly) shown off and creative communities cultivated.
This issue adopts a slightly different format to previous iterations of the magazine, with features spanning fewer locations treated to extended coverage. Inside, meet woodcarver Lyle Campbell, whose Haida ancestry continues to define his practice following his departure from his homeland almost a decade ago; celebrate 100 years of the John C. Campbell Folk School in North Carolina, founded on community and skill-based craft instead of grades; and meet Crete-based ceramicist Korina Doerr at her workshop adorned with ceramic mermaid mosaics and hand painted illustrations, indicative of her delicate glazing practice.
