Your complete guide to magCulture Live LDN25
Our annual magCulture Live London event takes place this week, on Thursday 13 November. We still have a few tickets left for this special day celebrating indie magazines, plus you can follow the talks online too.
What is magCulture Live?
Over the years the event has moved through various names and been based at several different venues. What has remained a constant is the desire to celebrate the creative side of magazine publishing. Expect a series of bespoke talks from expert specialists; if you regularly read the magCulture Journal you’ll know the scope of what to expect. We love magazines!
When/where does it take place?
magCulture Live takes place on Thursday 13 November, from 1—5pm, at Vitsoe in Marylebone. Doors open at 12 noon for some pre-talks shopping and chatting.
Vitsoe have been a key partner of ours since 2014, and supplied the shelving and furniture for our Clerkenwell shop. The space is an exciting modernist showroom space that will be adapted into an auditorium for the day.

Is there a theme to the day?
Creativity! Each edition of magCulture Live is a celebration of creative publishing in the broadest sense, but we also add a theme each year. This time the day will demonstrate how the small, independent magazines that we’ve been championing over the past 20 years are now the beating heart of the international magazine publishing industry. Speakers from some of the most successful and long-standing indies—Apartamento (launched 2008), Fantastic Man (2005) and Buffalo Zine (2011)—will join us to share their stories, alongside Chloe Scheffe, one of the most exciting young magazine designers working today, and a selection of speakers from newer indies.
The event coincides with the 20th anniversary of magCulture online and the 10th anniversary of our London shop. Over this period we have seen a seismic shift in the magazine industry, as the mainstream press withers and the independents grow in scope and influence.

How does the day work?
The day comprises a series of talks by invited speakers, accompanied by slides. Each has been briefed to share their work and address the day’s theme. The running order is planned like a magazine, to provide intriguing crossovers between speakers and to build pace from talk to talk. There is time for some questions from the audience, but the day is designed to be informal and attendees will get the chance to interact directly with our speakers one-to-one too.
Join us at magCulture Live LDN25 and discover the independent, analogue, future!

What else can I expect?
Our pop-up magazine shop will be present on the day, along with stands from our partners Park Communcations and Ra & Olly. All attendees will receive a smart Vitsoe tote bag containing work by our speakers and material from our partners.
Fresh water will be available all day, there will be a ticketed coat check, and one 15m rest break. Vitsoe is located on a small, busy road with plenty of cafés and coffee shops.
We hope attendees will stay at the end of the session for a quick beer or two and chat with our speakers. Ultimately though, magCulture Live is a day to sit back and enjoy! Be inspired and reminded what’s possible.
Can I watch online?
The event is designed for a live audience, but we realise not everyone can get to London so we livestream it too. This also means that all ticketholders—live and online—will have access to a full video of the whole session after the event has taken place (the link for this will be shared a week or so afterwards).
