Debris is a biannual literary magazine showcasing the work of Australian and French writers and artists. Each issue is guest edited and changes its format and design to suit the central theme.

This issue, themed ‘No!’, is devoted to the various ways in which refusal, negation, and denial can be both expressed and interpreted. As Cher Tan and Jon Tjhia write in their editorial, the epoch of ‘no’ is now, and this edition aims in part to void the word itself with alternative explorations of its meaning: ‘an ecstatic no, a vibrant and affirming no,a glorious no, a fantastic, opulent no.’ Its pages use a paired back serif typeface and leave plenty of breathing room to reflect the tone within.

Inside, you’ll find a moving selection of writing, illustration and photography, with contributions from Alissar Seylar, Luca Demetriadi, Alex Creece, Boohoo Collective, Matt Huynh, Smriti Daniel, Tom Campbell, Dominic Guerrera, Chunxiao Qu, Naavikaran, Jahan Rezakhanlou, Claire Cao, Tim Loveday and Hannah Wu.
