‘For those who listen closer’

13tracks is a new magazine about how music makes us feel. As its name suggests, it features a 13 track playlist, and an illustrator and a writer have been invited to respond to each one. Spanning multiple genres and with multiple contributors, it’s offers up both the familiar and the surprising in a way that helps the focus remain on the experience of music in general, rather than a particular genre.

The music includes tracks by Daniel Avery, Jimi Hendrix and Mogwai; and responses range from Siobhán Foster’s visual interpretation of ‘Mogwai—2 Rights Make 1 Wrong,’ to Taylor Harrison’s short story about ‘The Wolf’ in response to Serge Gainsbourg’s ‘Melody.’

It’s really clever idea that’s still finding its feet, but will appeal to anyone interested in discovering other music.
