Aesthetica #133

Produced in the north of England, Aesthetica offers a much-welcomed, non London-centric view of art, design, photography and general culture.
Issue #133 for October/November 2026 is subtitled ‘World of Possibility,’ and looks at the links between the built environment and our imagination. A such, the issue is a little more design-orientated than art-focussed. A piece on architect’s houses presents a series of homes spanning mid-century to present-day; an interview with event/theatre designer Es Devlin digs into her current Design Museum show; and this interest in physical spaces extends into the issue’s photography section, with brilliant images visual stories including Viet Ha Tran’s shots of a Madrid vertical garden and Rico X’s of cityscapes taken from planes.
On the Journal:
‘We look for ‘art’ in the broadest sense, featuring works that are both visually engaging and conceptually or culturally important. There are layers to the images and pieces that we publish, all with ties to a rapidly changing world, from the climate crisis to conversations around social justice’ – Kate Simpson, Associate editor.
