Me Guardé del Sol #1

210 x 290 mm, 52 pages
London, UK
Since 2026
Founders and editors: Nimie Li & Dieter Vlasich

Me Guardé del Sol is a new editorial project dreamt up by textile artist Dieter Vlasich and photographer Nimie Li, positioning embroidery as a unique cross-generational language. The publication shares its name with a traditional Mexican expression used to describe being sheltered inside from the heat, absorbed in detailed hand-embroidery work.

Informed by conversations with skilled relatives—Doña Nilvia, Doña Imelda, and Doña Leydi— Me Guardé del Sol delivers a meditation on the symbiotic relationship between craftsmanship, nature and intergenerational exchange through a series of candid photographs captured in an unnamed town near the ruins of Chichén Itzá.

This beautiful, debut edition arrives hand-bound with linen thread dyed using indigo and madder root, encased in a pastel yellow envelope/sleeve adorned with an illustrated rose inspired by traditional embroidery templates.
