‘Always first at keeping you tapped into fashion’
Taking the leap into print, Outlander is the eponymous luxury and streetwear magazine from the popular media platform founded by Callum McCafferty in 2014. Covering ‘fashion’s past, present, and future’, expect conversations with tastemakers, profiles of established and emerging designers, in-depth features spanning innovation in garment production to the spaces clothing inhabits and a mixture of high/low fashion editorials.
This sophomore edition of Outlander explores the theme of ‘Icons’ from—as editor Callum McCafferty asserts—‘every single angle you can possibly think of.’ Starring American actor Willem Dafoe in a tight cut cover shot, in startlingly close quarters to a colourful plastic goldfish. Inside, encounter Dafoe in conversation with McCafferty ruminating on life’s unanswerable questions, what inspires him, and what he no longer fears, accompanied by a playful editorial shot by Conor Cunningham. Elsewhere, Lucien Pagès—aka the ‘PR Prince of Fashion’—spills his intuitive vision to Sophie Burke, exploring how he helms his agency with prowess; musicians Erykah Badu and Ms. Lauryn Hill meet in Milton Keynes at the first UK iteration of Diaspora Calling! Festival, caught in a striking editorial inspired by archival West African family portraiture, photographed by Elliot Hensford; and Isabella Guarnieri muses on mythical icon Pikachu and the vast cultural capital of Pokémon, its many iterations, and influences on the fashion industry.
The issue is also packed with print surprises: a scratch-off text section, fold-outs and you can even assemble your own Porsche using the sticker sheet provided or—as advised by the sheet itself—feel encouraged to ‘lock in’ and buy your own.
There two other cover options launching over the coming weeks.
